“By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.”
CCC 1499
This Sacrament can be received many times over the course of the Faithful’s lifetime at any point that they are in need of healing, as well as in grave times when death may be near. Every year St. Augustine’s Church has a Mass of the Anointing of the Sick that all in the Parish may receive the blessings of healing that come from this Sacrament. It occurs later in the Church Calendar’s year some time before Advent.
If you are anticipating surgery or need this Sacrament of healing please contact our Parish Offices and a priest will respond to the request.
