Celebrating the Word with children on Sundays when the parish assembles is a significant development in the liturgical and Christian initiation movement. This custom of adapting Scriptures for children reflects a profound respect for the spiritual life of children. St. Augustine’s offers the Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) for the youth of our Parish at the 10:30 a.m. Mass each Sunday. Children are invited to the Altar for a blessing then proceed to St. Rita’s Room in the Lower Church. This is an opportunity for children to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word in an atmosphere that allows them to hear the Gospel proclaimed in words they can relate to, and to be able to discuss what they have just heard.
Leaders in the CLOW Ministry need to have a love of children, a basic understanding of scripture, and a desire to share their Catholic faith with our youth. Have you considered being a leader in this program? Please call the Parish Office for more information and to schedule CLOW training and orientation.
